Board Meeting
May 8th 2006 at McGill University

Montréal 2006-05-08 - At the Board of Directors meeting held at McGill University Faculty Club, Messrs John Holding and Jean Nicolas have been unanimously appointed Honorary Members of CRIAQ.  By this nomination, the CRIAQ community recognizes Messrs Holding and Nicolas' outstanding contribution to the Consortium.  As Honorary Members, they will be able to participate in CRIAQ future activities, to everyone's anticipated satisfaction.

John Holding, past Executive Vice-president of Bombardier Aerospace, has retired from the Company in January 2006. A great supporter of CRIAQ, he has chaired its Board since its creation in 2002.  In November 2005, ADRIQ awarded John its prestigious Career Recognition Prize 2005 for the importance of his contributions to industrial innovation.  On his Honorary Member's certificate the citation underscores: "... his outstanding support and true vision as Chairman of the Board..."   A true leader, John has been a source of inspiration to all CRIAQ partners

Jean Nicolas, professor at Université de Sherbrooke, was at the origin of CRIAQ's creation.  He was in charge of preparing the submissions to Valorisation Recherche Québec (VRQ) and the Fond Québécois de recherche en Nature et Technologies (FQRNT) and acted as Vice Chairman of the Board of CRIAQ since its creation.  Jean has requested to step down from the Board to leave room to a younger generation but he promised to continue his collaboration with CRIAQ.  The citation on his Honorary Member certificate quotes "... his exceptional contribution, his extraordinary vision, his participation as Vice Chairman of the Board from 2002 to 2006 and all the energy deployed to make CRIAQ a reality." Jean Nicolas was awarded the Institutional Career Recognition Prize 2004 from ADRIQ.  He has just been nominated Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering.
