Description du projet/ Project Description

The project aims to establish whether there is enough thermoset composite waste generated in Canada by the aerospace industry to support a domestic recycling effort and identify which technologies would be the most viable to this end.  The properties of such recyclates or new materials made from recyclates will be evaluated with the intention of identifying commercial uses.

Objectifs/ Objectives
The main objectives are :

a)    Evaluate the economic feasibility of recycling thermoset composite material wastes coming from the aerospace industry (i.e. Bombardier and Bell Helicopter) based on geographical distribution and the amounts of waste generated per year;
b)    Evaluate and analyse the advanced environmental recycling technologies available in the market;
c)    Assess performance of recycled material obtained from selected process(es) as a proof of concept.
