Description du projet/ Project
Description
The project consists of developing at a
rotating blade level non thermal
de-icing devices operating in helicopter
blade environment and consuming power at
substantially lower levels than current
thermal devices. It also includes the
further development of a mast mounted
generator to provide electric power to
the blade without slip rings.
Objectifs/ Objectives
1. To design and fabricate de-icing
devices based on three different
technologies, to be installed on a model
412 tail rotor blade.
2. To develop a low cost and mobile
outdoor winter facility where the
performance of three de-icing
technologies and the mast mounted
generator will be assessed under
artificial icing with devices mounted on
the tail rotor blade.
3. To set up an outdoor mobile icing
facility to be operated during winter
season for helicopter rotor blade
de-icing systems testing.
