From July 28 to August 1, the Canada\u2013Korea Conference (CKC) on Science and Technology<\/a> took place. The 2025 edition was held in Montr\u00e9al and organized by the Association of Korean\u2013Canadian Scientists and Engineers (AKCSE), showcasing Montr\u00e9al\u2019s positioning as the cradle of Canada\u2019s aerospace industry. It was a week full of opportunities to strengthen collaborative research between CRIAQ and various Korean organizations that promote aerospace innovation in South Korea and internationally.<\/p>\n

Visit from KITECH to CRIAQ<\/h4>\n

On Monday, July 28, CRIAQ welcomed representatives from the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH)<\/a>, a research organization established by the Korean government to develop technologies for its industry.<\/p>\n

This meeting follows an agreement signed with KITECH in June 2024. The agreement aims to support the development of aerospace collaborations in the fields of sustainable aviation, advanced air mobility, and digital aviation systems. CRIAQ and KITECH share a common vision for supporting experts and responding to the needs of businesses in both countries to foster innovation. Among the initiatives discussed, the agreement could also facilitate the pooling of joint resources in both territories.<\/p>\n

Aerospace Forum III<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

Jointly organized by CRIAQ and the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI)<\/a>, Aerospace Forum III brought together researchers from both countries to present and exchange on the current state of R&D in their respective institutions on the following topics: Urban Advanced Mobility (UAM) simulation, AI-based drone flight control, hybrid powertrain technology, and launch vehicles and satellites.<\/p>\n

This working session follows multiple meetings between the two organizations, including an initial meeting in South Korea in October 2024 and a second in Montr\u00e9al in February 2025 as part of the RDV Forum<\/a>. The workshop also served as a prelude to the signing of an agreement between CRIAQ and KARI.<\/p>\n

KARI\u2013CRIAQ Collaboration Agreement<\/span><\/h4>\n

On Friday, August 1, CRIAQ and KARI signed an agreement to establish the framework for future collaborations on topics of common interest. The research and development initiatives will focus on the following areas: advanced air mobility; sustainable energy and alternative fuels; urban air mobility infrastructure; digital technologies and artificial intelligence applied to aerospace; and space systems.<\/p>\n

To support collaboration among experts, the two partners also agreed to share information on government policies and programs, business opportunities between the industries, and to promote the mobility of research talent.<\/p>\n

Industrial visit to CAE with KARI<\/h3>\n

The Canada\u2013Korea Conference week concluded with an industrial site visit to CAE<\/a>, coordinated by CRIAQ, with representatives from KARI. The visit highlighted to the Korean organization CAE\u2019s R&D expertise, which plays a key role in shaping the future of Canada\u2019s aerospace sector and is supported in its projects by CRIAQ.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
