Introduction
Led by the industry, especially SMEs, the research projects supported by this program aim to mature and demonstrate a technology for applications linked to sustainable aeronautics and aerospace, the air mobility of the future, and digital aviation systems.
In a collaborative research mode, work is carried out in partnership between two companies and often also with university, college, and public research centres.
Program objectives
- Accelerate the implementation of collaborative innovation projects for the development and demonstration of a new product or process, its maturation and, potentially, its technological demonstration in an operational environment.
- Contribute to the integration of innovation into solutions that will give Quebec companies a competitive edge and generate maximum economic spinoffs for the province.
- Contribute to the training and retention of highly qualified personnel in Quebec SMEs.
- Promote transfer by mobilizing resources from the academic world to implement research within the industry.
- Promote the research results and know-how of Quebec SMEs
The strength of the program
- Access and benefit from the collective intelligence of industrial and academic partners.
- Reduce risk and share R&D costs.
- Public funding of up to 75% of the project’s monetary value.
- Depending on the project, other partners such as IRAP, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), and/or MITACS may also co-fund the project.
- Benefit from financial leverage with funding to cover research expenses.
- Personalized support from day 1, from project idea to project completion.
Other program features
- Research projects typically last from 1 to 3 years.
- Funding recipients are companies, particularly SMEs, as well as universities, College Centres for the Transfer of Technologies (CCTT) or Quebec public research centres (CRP).
- Non-subsidized contributions may be eligible for tax credits, including the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) tax credit, according to the program’s current criteria.
- Management fees on the total value of the project apply. For more details, contact the Project Portfolio team.
